About us

This initiative is dedicated to a Pueblo native named Leticia Salinas, or "Weda", as she was most commonly known as. Leticia passed away much too early on March 18th of 2015, while only a few months away from graduating high school.

The sole purpose of the scholarship is to keep Leticia's legacy alive within our community and reduce mental health stigma within Pueblo youth. Everyone can make a difference in their own way by volunteering, donating, or just spreading the word on suicide awareness. Our main goal is to be able to raise enough money every year so we can provide a few seniors in Pueblo, Colorado a scholarship to financially help pursue their post-secondary education.

The Leticia "Weda" Salinas Scholarship is currently accepting applications from high school seniors at each Pueblo school (DHPH, East, South, Central, Centennial, County, Pueblo West & Swallows) who are planning to attend college. Since 2015, 45 scholarships have been awarded to Pueblo seniors. In 2024, we plan to be awarding six recipients. The scholarships amount will vary. Please browse through the above tabs for more in depth information on how you can donate, apply and support our mission of keeping Leticia's memory alive. Thank you.
